Our New Bundle of Joy – The Dyson V6 Absolute

If your house is really a mess and a stranger

comes to the door, greet him with,

“Who could have done this? We have no enemies.”

Meet our new baby…The Dyson V6 Absolute Cordless Vacuum. Or, as I like to call it, Sweetie Pie.

Just kidding! I don’t call it Sweetie Pie. But I do love it, and it probably deserves a term of endearment.

Do you have cats along for the ride? Feline RV Venturers? We do. Two cute, quirky kitties who shed like crazy and seem to take sinister pleasure in dispersing the cat litter across the RV on the daily.. several times over.

Our coach has a built-in vacuum system, but let’s be real. – Those are a pain. If I only needed to vacuum the RV a few times a month, perhaps lugging out all those tubes and attachments wouldn’t be so bad. But again, remember those tricky kitty cats who hold bundles of litter in their paws and fur (and mouth for all I know) and distribute it about the coach while I’m not looking in an effort to drive me insane? They don’t give me a break. And call me crazy or OCD or whatever you like, but I don’t think its unreasonable that I take issue with this dusty trash on my floors.

I had tried cordless vacuums before. – Before my RV tripping days. They did not live up to expectations, and I hadn’t really thought about getting one again. (Though in retrospect – Duh! What more perfect place for a cordless vac than an RV??)

Anyway, in a conversation with my non-RV’ing friend Kristen, who I consider the Einstein of Floor Cleaners, she raved about the Dyson V6 Absolute. As I listened to her, a wheel that had already been turning in my head started turning in high speed. I needed to look into this.

My first thought: What? -This thing is pricey. That was also my second and third thought. But I read several million Amazon reviews anyway. Then I read CNET’s review, which steers consumers toward less expensive options. And that started me looking into the less expensive options. Consequently, I read another few million reviews on those. Oh the time I spent on this!

Anyway…

What it came down to for me was the Absolute’s “soft roller cleaner head,” which essentially dusts your floors while picking up the debris. Nothing else I saw had anything like it.

I justified the cost in my head (because goodness knows I needed to) by reasoning this:  Dysons are known for their longevity. This 5-lb litter eater is going to be my BFF for years and years. I’ll be using it at least a couple of times, if not more, a day. So is it really that big of a deal to spend a couple hundred $$$ more for the top of the line product when you know you are going to get your money’s worth out of it? Am I right, or am I right?

I write this merely from my enthusiasm over the latest tool in my never-ending quest to keep this darn RV clean. I am not at all trying to persuade you to buy one cordless vacuum over another. Or to buy one at all. But I would love to hear how you keep your Palace on Wheels spic and span. Please share!
